Webinar: Responsive Management Systems: GAINS™ - Getting Along IN Society "Rationales – Strengthening Relationship, Purpose and Values"

Description:  The data continue to show that a main ingredient necessary for a child or youth to: 1) stay in their birth home; 2) stay and improve in school; 3) find and maintain employment; and, 4) successfully participate in recreation, arts and competitive athletics is being able to "get along." One example and a key Interpersonal Life Skill in the "getting along" category is the social response of the youth or child when provided appropriate direction or a request by an adult. If the youth or child does not respond in a relatively specific way at least 85% of the time he or she will find themselves facing a decreasing range of life options. GAINS is an Interpersonal Skills development model. GAINS™ is a parent/teacher/staff resource for use with children and youth who are having difficulty "getting along." It can be effectively used for a variety of special needs, conditions, and ages as well as in open and closed settings. Interpersonal Skills development strategies that are the most effective provide: (1) similar and practical life-skills applicable to multiple settings (i.e., home, school, work, recreation, associations, membership, community, etc.); (2) individualized instruction; and, (3) opportunities to practice in natural settings with observation and feedback by caring adults.  We will briefly review the Key Organizational Elements of Organizational Quality, the Key Elements of Improving Individual Abilities, the Key Individual Ability Areas, and the steps to Teaching Interpersonal Skills; Webinar participants will learn (1) the principal research history of Rationales use; (2) how to formulate Rationales through Impact Analysis and (3) how become more of an "educator" and less of a "motivator" (the most common, but less effective approach) to strengthen relationship, and enhance purpose & values with children and youth. We will be requesting volunteered participation when formulating Rationales through Impact Analysis.
