Participant Evaluation Summary

2006 Seminar Results

Comments from Participants:

1. How satisfied are you that the information provided in this seminar is relevant to the performance of your work or your organization?
Dick took problems from group as examples and made them very relative.
A process to develop and provide feedback is very useful.
I grasped the morning session a little easier than the afternoon.
Difficulty will be making it "fit" my organization.
Interpersonal skills is what I need to work on!
Very relevant to healthy organizations.
Great information to improve my supervisory skills.
Loved the information and use during the interview.
It is always beneficial to find a more effective way to supervise.
Presented a clear method for dealing with employees.
I liked the preparation forms for giving feedback (negative).
Very helpful handouts.
Not quite sure best way to fold in yet.
It was very helpful to give me skills to increase my ability to manage complex situations and personalities.

2. How satisfied are you that the information provided in this seminar is sensitive to and positively responds to the differences between people?
Dick gave some very good examples of differences.
Discussion involved gender differences.
This should work well with different types of people.
I appreciated the effective listening aspects and the suggestion to not try to solve problems.
Provided examples of broad based thinking about other people, culture, etc.
This seminar will be helpful in my everyday communication with my employees.
Very well done. Expand a bit more to culture differences.
It helps me understand the implications of all action.
Very clear and respectful language addressing differences in people.

3. How satisfied are you with your ability at this time to apply the information covered in this seminar to your work or organization?
Some of it I am already doing -- others I need to practice.
It will take some practice to become comfortable with applying the feedback, however, having the tools is a benefit.
Half-day is hard to incorporate but I will try.
Need to practice.
With this book and the steps on how to do it.
Need to follow-up with practice.
Will take some practice.
We just need to apply it and use it consistently.
Will want to review and use the tools soon.
It's going to take time and practice.
I will practice!!
I got a good understanding of often overlooked areas.
I think I will be able to implement this with some more practice.
I will use this information for sure.
I look forward to making these tools part of my daily management job.

4. How satisfied are you that you had sufficient opportunities to participate?
Interesting exercises.
If you don't participate, it's your own fault.
My style is highly participative and I always need to be aware of allowing space for others to participate.  Small group, ongoing coaching would be great.
[I] See how a second day would be helpful.
I really wanted to do — practice, practice, practice — on how to give negative performance feedback.
More role plays (practice) would have been helpful.
Good.
No problem.
Beneficial opportunities to apply didactic knowledge into practice.

5. How satisfied are you that your questions were answered adequately?
Dick gave very direct answers to direct questions.
Very responsive.
Very clear.
Good instruction and insight.
All questions are answered.

6. How satisfied are you that this was a good use of your time?
I feel I am taking away some valuable information.
Great start at training for managers.
Again, always good to find more effective ways.
Thank you.
As a new supervisor this is extremely helpful.
Very good use of time – fast moving and informative.

Other -- What other training topics would you like to have presented?
Don't know but would like to comment that you are a very enjoyable and engaging speaker.  Thank you.
Discussing w/ organization now.
Our employees will require a great deal of opportunity to "share" and participate in the seminar.
Excellent presentation.  Thank you.
Wider organizational goals and structure (Part 2).
Just wish we could afford more of your time.
No others at this time.
Maybe more on follow-up steps when problem employees don't respond to feedback.
Systems development and OD theory.
This was good — thanks.
Very good tools to take back.
