Life Line™
Line-Level Workgroup Conflict Intervention

At times, businesses, organizations and their subunits operate at their most efficient and effective and still at other times the reverse. Cycles are part of the life of organizations. The goal often is to maximize peaks and minimize valleys; to produce steep slopes leading to high peaks on “up legs” and gradual slopes with shallow valleys on “down legs.”

A high potential for conflict exists during these cycles as resources increase, decrease and are realigned. Factors contributing to the intensity of these "peaks" and "valleys" in organizational cycles are:

bullet

Leadership breakdowns

bullet

Changes in Market Interest in Product/Service

bullet

Decreases in performance quality

bullet

Employee "personality" problems

bullet

Failure of performance monitoring and feedback systems

bullet

Leadership/Personnel Changes occurring too often or not often enough

bullet

Legislative/Legal changes or challenges

bullet

Raw materials availability

bullet

Technology change

bullet

Value change

bullet

Weather

bullet

Workforce availability

bullet

Workforce skill level

A skilled external facilitator can often effectively create positive movement through the conflict allowing the organization to focus its efforts and energy on customers and their needs. Life Line™ provides three key advantages: 1) conflict will decrease; 2) performance will improve; and, 3) workgroups acquire the skills used by the facilitator for organizational maintenance.
